The aim of ISMEC is to cover all aspects of main-group-element chemistry, including (A) the synthesis of novel heteroatom compounds and their structures and properties, (B) theoretical, mechanistic, and stereochemical aspects of organoheteroatom compounds, (C) organic synthetic chemistry based on the unique characteristic of heteroatoms, and (D) creation of novel functional compounds that contain heteroatoms. In general, we aim to promote exchange of ideas and collaborations among participants. We strongly encourage younger scientists to attend the meeting in order to get involved touch and see, first-hand, the state-of-the-art in the field. The symposium program will feature special lectures, short oral communications, and a poster session. I am sure many, especially young scientist go there to here from the seasoned investigators in order to learn from them.
